HP High Court: Wishing India-Pak Peace Not Sedition, Grants Bail
The Himachal Pradesh High Court, led by Justice Rakesh Kainthla, granted bail to Abhishek Singh Bhardwaj, accused of uploading prohibited weapon and Pakistani flag images on Facebook, among other charges. The court clarified that expressing a desire for India-Pakistan peace and opposing war is not sedition. It added that merely posting slogans like 'Khalistan Zindabad' does not constitute a crime without clear intent of disaffection or rebellion against the government, finding no such solid evidence. Strict bail conditions were imposed on Bhardwaj.
