Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Hooghly, West Bengal, on Sunday, inaugurating and laying foundation stones for multiple development projects exceeding Rs 830 crore in Singur and other areas. Addressing public meetings, he stressed the importance of Eastern India's development for a developed nation. Modi highlighted enhanced connectivity with the launch of India's first Vande Bharat sleeper train and new Amrit Bharat Express services, including one linking Kashi and Bengal. He also emphasized multi-modal connectivity, integrating ports, highways, and airports, alongside significant investments in the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port. The Prime Minister criticized the TMC government for obstructing central schemes and "antagonizing" the state's populace, while reiterating his vision for local industries and comprehensive development.
