Chinese Kite String Injures Student in Kota; Danger Persists Post-Makar Sankranti
In Kota, Rajasthan, the danger posed by Chinese kite strings (manjha) continues even after Makar Sankranti. A student returning from a teacher recruitment exam was severely injured on Sunday when she got entangled in the string while riding a scooter over the Borkheda bridge. She sustained critical injuries to her neck, eye, and finger, causing her to lose control of the scooter and fall. A passing doctor provided immediate assistance, and the student's eye required five stitches. This incident follows previous injuries to children and others from the same type of kite string, yet its use remains unregulated.
