BJD Suspends Two MLAs For Anti-Party Activities

Odisha's Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has suspended MLAs Arvind Mohapatra and Sanatan Mahakud with immediate effect, accusing them of "anti-party activities" and labeling them corrupt and traitors. The order, signed by party president Naveen Patnaik, has been communicated to the Assembly Speaker. While Mohapatra expressed surprise, Mahakud, who had been critical of the BJD's previous government and praised the current BJP Chief Minister, stated he was not surprised. This action, highlighting internal party strife, comes ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections in April.
